Welcome to the online home of mystery writer, Wendy Delaney!

About me

My foray into writing began back (way back!) in the mid-60’s when an episode of the Man From U.N.C.L.E didn’t end to my childish mind’s satisfaction, and I set out to write the happy ending I thought Napolean Solo deserved. Yep, my romantic roots revealed themselves pretty darn early. Several years later, in high school, an English teacher told me I had a calling and that I should take this writing stuff more seriously. Huh? A love of language, yes. A calling? I was much too practical to buy into that fantastic notion. But something kept niggling at me. A yearning. A heart’s desire that my very practical left brain set on the shelf.

So, I became a computer programmer. Hey, I told you I was practical!

But the yearning didn’t go away, so this programmer by day finally heeded that call and became a serious student of genre fiction by night.

A few years later, I was thrilled to be announced as a Golden Heart contest finalist with my
first completed novel, a humorous contemporary romance entitled This Can’t Be Love. After dead bodies kept dropping from the ceiling in my books, I took the not so subtle hint and blended two of my favorites genres—mystery and romance. I’m now working on a fun series
of sexy whodunits set in a small town in the Pacific Northwest.

I also love to share what I’ve learned on my writer’s journey and have teamed up with my writing buddy, mystery author, Ann Charles, to present several workshops at regional writers’ meetings and conferences. Check out my Workshops page for more information.
