Summertime, and the living is . . . well . . . not exactly easy ’cause it’s so dang hot where I live in southern Texas. Yep, this Pacific Northwest transplant is a lot like the green peppers I’ve been trying to grow in my garden — a bit wilted from the furnace blast of heat. All I can say is thank goodness for air conditioning!
What I’ve been doing to beat the heat of summer is working on the new book (another novel set in Port Merritt — and yes, Charmaine from my mystery series will make an appearance or two. Steve too!) and then, after work, I catch up on my reading. I’m a huge John Sandford fan, so I’ve been making my way through the Lucas Davenport series. Other than that, romantic suspense, British rom-coms, and historical fiction (Kate Quinn, Kristin Hannah) have been my mainstays. Yep, I’m taking a big break from cozy mystery while I turn my writing focus elsewhere. It seems to be good for my brain. And at this point in my life, I’m all for anything that’s good for my brain, whether it helps my writing or not!
If you’re new to my website and to my Working Stiffs Mystery series, welcome! Maybe you saw a post or email about Trudy, Madly, Deeply (Working Stiffs Mystery #1) being available as a free e-book. If you haven’t grabbed your copy yet, Trudy, Madly, Deeply will remain free at least through August, so if you’re looking for something fun to read this summer, here you go! Like all the books in my mystery series, Trudy, Madly, Deeply is available everywhere e-books are sold.
