A year has zipped by since my last blog post. In fact, more than a year.
A lot has happened in that time. So much of it has been the routine stuff of life, where one day flows into the next. Until something happens that changes everything.
For me that something was getting a routine physical, but the results from the accompanying lab work were anything but routine. Long story short, I have what had been a symptom-free condition. It’s treatable by medication. (Yay!) But the medication is one of those that comes with a laundry list of side effects. (Boo!) Almost all of the ones I’ve been experiencing are minor (thank goodness since I’ll be on these meds for the rest of my life), but they aren’t the least bit conducive to sitting in front of a computer screen and writing, at least not in the way I’ve been accustomed to cranking out pages for hours each day. So, I must adapt. It’s the only way the next Port Merritt-set book is going to get done.
And it will get done! I promise you that.
Change is good, right? (Can you hear me heaving a weary sigh through your computer or phone?)
This is just a bump in the road of life. Doesn’t mean I have to like it. I just have to accept it – something that I continue to work on every darned day.
Thanks for stopping by. I hope to have better news next time.
